Our Approach

BAO has strong belief on cultural resource as a foundation for development of any society. While cultural dynamics may contribute to society barriers to development, likewise culture remain to be a resource for any positive developmental processes.

It is from this understanding that BAO chose to take on board culture and arts expression as an area of intervention through its promotion as societal and national pride where national cohesion is realized and development enhanced.

Professional Training Programs

In this area, BAO conduct professional training programs for out of school youth and those from colleges and universities. For about 20 years now BAO has provided a space for youth to learn theatre especially circus, dance and music.

This program has produced hundreds of youths who now are self-employed while others get seasonal contracts with circus companies in and outside Tanzania such as China, Turkey, Israel and India.

Art Expressions as Methodology

BAO uses art expressions such as music, drama, storytelling, poetry, puppet Theatre and visual arts such as drawing and painting as a methodology to communication, community mobilization, healing (Healing Through Art) and a tool for psychosocial support (PSS) in Child Protection, Education, Health and Youth empowerment programs.
